Palmer Lake, CO – February 12, 2018 – Paul and Lisa Sutton, Owners of Peak Structural, Inc., a leading home repair service provider in Colorado, are calling on fellow business owners, community leaders and the local community to donate generously to Shield 616 to provide at least 100 sets of protective gear to local law enforcement.

The recent tragic loss of Deputy Sheriff Flick is the third law enforcement officer in 36 days to die like this. “As a community, we can and MUST do more to protect the brave men and women who serve and protect us every day,” said Paul Sutton, Owner of Peak Structural, Inc. “We have a goal to put at least 100 more of our law enforcement personnel in protective, high tech body protective gear and we need your help to do it.”

Shield 616 is a local non-profit organization that was formed in late 2015 with the goal of providing local officers better gear and protection against rifle threats and to break down barriers that may exist between local law enforcement and citizens. “Currently, 225 police and sheriff officers here in the El Paso County area do not have the proper protective gear to protect them in the event of an active shooter situation,” said Mike Hestermann, Chief Development Officer for Shield 616. “When we heard what Peak Structural was looking to do, we knew this was an answered prayer and we are touched by the support of the local business community.”

Shield 616 ensures that not only will all of the gear be donated but replaced every five years at no cost to any officer or department. The Shield 616 protective gear package includes a ballistic helmet, an individual trauma aid kit, Shield616 Ballistic Plate Carrier Vest with pouches and stand alone rifle plates. Each package costs $1,400.

Peak Structural is encouraging local businesses, community leaders and individuals to join them in this effort to contribute at least 100 sets of Shield 616 protective gear to our local law enforcement. No donation is too small to make a difference. Donations can be made at www.shield616.org or checks may be made out to Shield 616 and mailed to Shield 616, in care of New Horizons Foundation at 5550 Tech Center Drive #303 Colorado Springs, CO 80919.
